NA body directs officials to resolve gratuity fund issue of PSM retired employees

ISLAMABAD: National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee on Industries and Production has directed to immediately resolve the issue of Provident Fund and Gratuity Fund to 3500 retired employees of Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM).

Meeting of the NA Body on Industries and Production was held under the Chairmanship of MNA Asad Umar in committee room No. 7, Parliament House, Islamabad on Thursday.

The Standing Committee discussed the matter about PSM, Karachi regarding the release of Provident Fund and Gratuity Fund to 3500 retired employees of PSM and recommended that this issue must be solved on priority basis.

The Standing Committee also discussed the implementation status on the recommendations of the Standing Committee on Industries and Production given in its meeting held on July 13, 2017 regarding Pakistan Gems and Jewelry Development Company (PGJDC), Pakistan Stone Development Company (PASDEC) and recommended to call representatives of Marble Association of Pakistan and State Bank of Pakistan in the next S/C meeting.

The Standing Committee further discussed the matter regarding Al-Tawairqi Steel Mills Karachi, on the proposal for restarting Al-Tuwairqi plant in Port Qasim and recommended to follow up the said proposal.

The members who attended the meeting including MNAs, Chairman Asad Umar, Qaiser Ahmad Sheikh, Dr Shezra Mansab Ali Khan Kharal, Sardar Kamal Khan Chang, Sahabzada Muhammad Nazeer Sultan, Ch Riaz-ul-Haq, Abdul Hakeem Baloch, Sajida Begum, Mehboob Alam, Maulana Muhammad Gohar Shah, Iftikhar-ud-Din and Privatisation Commission Minister.
