ISLAMABAD: Dr Miftah Ismail on Wednesday assumed responsibilities as the Adviser to Prime Minister on Finance, Economic Affairs and Revenue and also visited the Finance Division and Federal Board of Revenue, where he met senior officials.
Talking to the officials, Dr Miftah said he had a firm resolve for further strengthening of the economy and advancing the objective of sustainable and inclusive growth as envisioned by the ruling party’s government. He said that efforts would be particularly focused on enhancing exports and increasing economic growth, besides broadening of tax base and lowering of rates.
In a notification On Tuesday, President Mamnoon Hussain had appointed Miftah Ismail, with taking the prime minister in confidence, as Adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance, Revenue and Economic Affairs, with the status of a federal minister.
Upon receiving the report of the new appointment, Miftah had expressed gratitude to the party (Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz) senior leadership for placing their trust in him.
