Cement exports rise by 8.1pc in two months

ISLAMABAD: The export of cement from the country increased by 8.01 per cent to $48.535 million during first two months of the current fiscal year, as compared to the export of $44.9 million in July-August 2017.

With respect to quantity, the exports of cement increased by 25.41 per cent, as it rose to 1.092 million metric tonnes in July-August (2108-19) from the export of 0.871 million metric tonnes cement during the same period of previous year.

According to the latest data issued by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the country produced 3.1 tonnes of cement in July 2018 as compared to the production of 3.067 tonnes cement in the same month of the preceding year.

On the month-on-month and year-on-year basis, the export of cement in August 2018 surged by 31.52 per cent and 23.01 per cent when compared with the exports during July 2018 and August 2017.

The export of cement increased from $20.98 million in July 2018 and $22.4 million in August 2017 to $27.57 million in August 2018.
