LAHORE: Qeemat Punjab, an app developed by the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) to monitor the prices of household commodities, has launched a new ‘Home Delivery Service’ feature to ensure the provision of regulated goods at citizens’ doorsteps.
The new feature covers the cities of Lahore, Rawalpindi, Islamabad and Multan. A total of 46 items, including fruits and vegetables, are listed on the app’s fresh online order form.
“The app will help people who don’t have the means to commute, wish to avoid tiresome traffic or carrying heavy shopping bags in busy markets,” said a statement issued on Friday.
To get the orders delivered, users would first have to select the ‘fresh online’ icon from the app, followed by selecting their tehsil and then the items of their desire from the list. The total bill would appear on the top of the screen. Necessary shipping details and pin location would also be required to be set from the map. Orders would be placed with cash on delivery mode of payment. A user would be able to see the status of the order in scheduled orders or in the order history.
Lahore, being the most populated city of Punjab, would be provided with services in five tehsils: Model Town, Lahore City, Lahore Cantt, Shalimar and Raiwind.
“Launched on 23rd April 2019 to stop the menace of profiteering, this citizen-centric app has received a tremendous response so far, as over 600,000 people have downloaded the app across the province. Out of 23,646 registered complaints, 23,516 have been resolved,” the statement concluded.
