COVID-19: Govt exempts 61 vital medical equipment from taxes

ISLAMABAD: The government on Friday exempted 61 compulsory medical-related equipment and machinery from taxes amid COVID-19 pandemic.

As per a notification issued by the FBR, “The government has exempted 61 medical-related equipment, as well as machinery, from income tax, sales tax, customs duty, additional customs duty and regulatory duty for the period of three months.”

These equipment/machinery include Dr Oligo Synthesizer, Vortex Machine (0-3000 RPM 220v), Velp Italy, Refrigerated Centrifuge Machine Temperature Range, Hermle IEC 1010, Tyvek Suits, N-95 masks, Biohazard Bags (18 litres), Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR), nitrile gloves, latex gloves, goggles and other lifesaving instruments.

The period of three months may be extended for another three months by the board on the recommendation of the Ministry National Health Services, Regulation and Coordination if adverse circumstances related to COVID-19 pandemic prevail, the notification read.
