Sugar mill association files petition against inquiry commission

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Sugar Mills Association (PSMA) on Wednesday filed a petition to Islamabad High Court (IHC) challenging the establishment of a sugar inquiry commission aimed at fixing the responsibility of the current sugar crisis in the country.

The petition was moved by PSMA through its counsel Suleman Akram Raja in which Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Accountability Mirza Shahzad Akber, the Interior Ministry, director general Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Punjab director general anti corruption and others were named as respondents.

The petition alleged that the federal government had unconstitutionally constituted the sugar inquiry commission on March 16 and urged the court to declare it null and void.
