DG Khan Cement receives export orders from Philippines

PM's adviser congratulates company on the breakthrough, urges other exporters to follow suit

Pakistan’s leading cement manufacturer DG Khan Cement Company Limited (DGKCC) has managed to procure export orders from the Philippines.

“Congratulations to DG Khan Cement for making a breakthrough in winning orders for export of cement to the Philippines. This follows on their success in China,” said Adviser to Prime Minister on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood in a tweet on Wednesday.

He also urged other exporters to follow suit and expand their market reach across the globe.

“Once market reach extends, then market share will increase. Increasing geographical diversification is an important part of our strategic trade policy,” Dawood stated.

DGKCC is among the top manufacturers of Pakistan with a production capacity of 22,400 tonnes per day. The company has four cement plants, two plants located at Dera Ghazi Khan, one at Khairpur (Chakwal) and one at Hub (Lasbela). All the plants operate on the latest Dry Process Technology.

It may be noted that Pakistan’s exports during the fiscal year 2019-20 stood at $21.387 billion as against the target of $24 billion. In 2018-19, Pakistan exported goods and services worth $22.958 billion.

  1. The government must pay more attention to export of value added goods, especially the auto sector. To make it more attractive the auto sector should be heavily protected and subsidised if it is export led. At the moment we dont see cars on the road ‘made in Pakistan ‘.
