ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi returned to the country on Wednesday after his trip to the United States and United Kingdom.
The former PM had left for the US to visit his ailing sister and brother-in-law. He stopped in London for five days and met former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
Abbasi returned with an important message from Nawaz Sharif for Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif and Vice President Maryam Nawaz, according to sources.
Earlier in December last, a summary had been approved by the Federal Ministry of Interior under which the government removed Abbasi’s name from the Exit Control List (ECL) and allowed him to go abroad.
The PML-N senior vice president’s name had been included in the ECL on the recommendation of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) as he is facing a corruption case.
