FBR exempts withholding tax on import of specific medicines

Withholding tax will not apply to the import of Cystagon/Systagon capsules, FBR issues notification 

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has granted an exemption from withholding tax on the import of Cystagon/Systagon capsules. 

The notification, SRO 722(I)/2025, states that the withholding tax, under section 148 of the Income Tax Ordinance, will not apply to the import of these medicines. 

The exemption applies specifically to imports made for the personal therapeutic use of immediate family members, provided a no-objection certificate (NOC) is issued by the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination.
