Lucky Motor announces unavoidable delays in vehicle deliveries due to Sindh road blockages

LMC reassures customers of commitment to timely deliveries, despite challenges posed by ongoing protests and road blockages

Lucky Motor Corporation (LMC) said that due to the ongoing road blockages and protests on major highways across Sindh, there are currently unavoidable delays in the dispatch and transportation of vehicles to various upcountry locations.

“We are closely monitoring the situation and are in constant coordination with our logistics partners to resume normal operations as soon as the routes are cleared and it is safe to proceed,” the company said in a notice to its customers on Thursday.

However, the company has assured its customers that despite the ongoing situation, it is committed to fulfilling its vehicle delivery promises.

LMC stated that it has successfully completed all vehicle deliveries for March as per its commitments and continues to focus on meeting the pending deliveries for April.

On Thursday evening, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif confirmed that the federal government, following consultations with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), will not proceed with the construction of any new canals until all water-related disputes are resolved through the Council of Common Interests (CCI).

The decision, aimed at easing tensions between provinces, was announced at a joint press conference held in Islamabad alongside PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. The announcement follows weeks of unrest in Sindh and political pressure on the ruling coalition to halt controversial plans involving the diversion of water from the Indus River.

The widespread protests against the controversial canal project on the Indus River caused severe disruptions to Pakistan’s supply chain especially the agricultural export sector and fuel cargo.

The Oil Companies Advisory Council (OCAC) said on April 23 that approximately 800 oil tankers were stranded in Larkana and Sukkur due to road closures and sit-ins, threatening to disrupt the supply of petrol and diesel to several cities.
