PM Shehbaz embarks on four-nation tour to boost regional ties

A key goal of the visit is to boost economic diplomacy and explore cooperation in infrastructure, energy, and trade

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has commenced a four-nation diplomatic tour aimed at deepening economic partnerships, boosting trade relations, and enhancing regional cooperation.

The official visit, spanning May 25 to 30, includes Turkey, Iran, Azerbaijan, and Tajikistan.

Accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi, the Prime Minister will hold key meetings with the leadership of these countries to discuss bilateral trade, energy cooperation, investment opportunities, and regional stability.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, a primary objective of the visit is to strengthen economic diplomacy and explore avenues for collaboration in infrastructure development, energy projects, and cross-border trade.

The tour also aims to express appreciation for the diplomatic and political support offered by these nations during Pakistan’s recent tensions with India, signalling a strategic recalibration of regional alliances.

A notable segment of the visit will be the Prime Minister’s participation in the International Conference on Glaciers in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, on May 29–30. The forum will provide Pakistan a platform to underscore its commitment to climate resilience, sustainable development, and environmental cooperation, while also seeking global investment in climate-related initiatives.

The multi-country tour is expected to set the stage for new agreements and joint ventures, particularly in the energy, transport, and environmental sectors.
