KARACHI: Reko Diq Mining Company (RDMC), operated by Barrick Mining Corporation, held a supplier roadshow in Karachi to engage potential vendors and contractors for the development of the Reko Diq copper-gold project.
The event, led by RDMC’s supply chain team, was attended by more than 200 companies, including national-level firms and small and medium enterprises from Balochistan. It follows a similar vendors’ expo held in Quetta last year.
Participants received an overview of the Reko Diq project and information on procurement policies, tax framework, local hiring, community engagement, and qualification procedures for vendors. The session also included a Q&A to clarify business requirements and registration processes.
RDMC Supply Chain Head Martin Heunes said the company is seeking to build a technically capable and compliant supply network, and is open to both local and international partners. Heunes said Reko Diq would become the country’s largest copper and gold mining operation and aims to source locally where possible.
RDMC is a joint venture between Barrick, the Government of Pakistan, and the Government of Balochistan. The company is positioning the Reko Diq project as a long-term mining initiative with local economic linkages.
