Pakistan, China and Bangladesh agree on trilateral cooperation

Pakistan, China, and Bangladesh have agreed to pursue trilateral cooperation based on openness, inclusiveness, good neighbourliness, mutual respect, and trust, during the inaugural Vice Foreign Minister/Foreign Secretary meeting held Thursday in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China.

The agreement aims to support joint goals through closer coordination and deliver outcomes that benefit all three sides. A joint working group will be formed to carry out the understandings reached during the meeting.

Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong, Bangladeshi Acting Foreign Secretary Ruhul Alam Siddique, and Additional Foreign Secretary of Pakistan Imran Ahmed Siddiqui attended the meeting in person. Foreign Secretary of Pakistan Amna Baloch joined the first phase of the session via video link.

In her remarks, Ambassador Baloch welcomed the launch of the trilateral mechanism and thanked China for hosting the meeting. She said the three countries share a focus on people-centered development and emphasized Pakistan’s interest in stronger engagement between China and South Asian nations.

She said Pakistan is ready to work with China and Bangladesh to strengthen cooperation in trade and investment, agriculture, digital economy, environmental protection, marine sciences, green infrastructure, culture, education, and people-to-people exchanges.

The meeting marks the beginning of a formal dialogue process among the three countries aimed at advancing shared regional interests.
