Cabinet committee removes SMEDA from state-owned enterprises list
Decision recognises SMEDA's statutory and non-commercial status following proposal by Ministry of Industries and Production

The Cabinet Committee on State-Owned Enterprises (CCoSOEs) has approved the removal of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) from the list of state-owned enterprises (SOEs), recognising its statutory and non-commercial nature.
The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb at the Finance Division on Thursday.
The committee approved a summary submitted by the Ministry of Industries and Production, which proposed excluding SMEDA from the SOE framework on the grounds that it operates as a statutory body rather than a commercial entity.
The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, who joined virtually, along with federal secretaries and senior officials from the relevant ministries, divisions and regulatory authorities.
