Boeing reported 116 new aircraft orders in June 2025, down sharply from the 303 orders it recorded in May, which had marked one of its strongest months on record.
The June total included 54 737 MAX jets, 32 787-10s, and 30 787-9s, according to the company’s monthly orders and deliveries report. Boeing’s total order backlog now stands at 6,590 unfilled aircraft.
The drop in orders comes as Airbus reported stronger performance for the same month. The European manufacturer booked 203 new aircraft orders in June, many of which were announced during the Paris Air Show. In contrast, Airbus had no new orders in May, holding back announcements for the air show.
In terms of deliveries, Boeing handed over 60 aircraft in June, while Airbus delivered 63 aircraft to 35 customers. Boeing’s deliveries included mostly 737 MAX jets along with some individual units of the 777F, 787-10, 787-9, and 767-2C.
Both companies saw higher delivery numbers compared to May, when Boeing delivered 45 jets and Airbus delivered 51.
So far in 2025, Boeing has received 668 total orders. This includes 343 737s, 242 787s, and 83 777s.
Airbus, in comparison, has received a total of 25,023 orders this year, including 20,226 single-aisle aircraft.
Boeing has delivered 280 aircraft in 2025 to date, consisting of 209 737s, 37 787s, 20 777s, and 14 767s. Airbus has delivered 306 aircraft to 65 customers during the same period.
Boeing’s overall production has slowed following the June 12 Air India crash in western India, which killed 241 of the 242 people on board and 19 people on the ground. At least 60 others were injured on the ground. The incident remains under investigation.
