OpenAI has introduced a new artificial intelligence agent for ChatGPT that can handle complex tasks, aiming to strengthen its position in the AI market.
The new agent is available to users on the Pro, Plus and Team tiers starting Thursday.
The tool brings together elements from OpenAI’s earlier agent-based tools, including Operator, which can interact with websites, and Deep Research, which supports multi-step research. The agent uses a virtual computer and can work with tools that browse the web and access user-connected apps like Gmail and GitHub.
Users can ask the agent to complete tasks such as ordering an outfit for a wedding while factoring in details like weather and dress code.
Major tech companies, including Microsoft, Salesforce, and Oracle, are investing heavily in similar AI agents to improve productivity and lower costs.
