Karachi Customs foils two marijuana smuggling attempts, seizing Rs. 57.43 million worth of narcotics

The Collectorate of Customs (Airports), Karachi, successfully intercepted two separate attempts to smuggle marijuana through the International Mail Office (IMO), seizing a total of 1.87 kilograms of narcotics valued at approximately Rs. 57.43 million.

The seizures were made during routine scans and physical inspections of parcels arriving from the United States. In the first case, 370 grams of marijuana, worth Rs. 11.36 million, were found in a parcel falsely declared as containing "shirts." The second seizure involved 1.5 kilograms of marijuana, valued at Rs. 46.07 million, concealed in a parcel labeled as "nylon carpet samples."

Both cases were detected as part of the daily risk profiling and examination procedures conducted at the IMO under the supervision of the Assistant Collector of the Air Cargo Control Unit (ACCU). The narcotics were confiscated in accordance with applicable laws, and legal proceedings are ongoing.

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) reaffirmed its commitment to combating smuggling, narcotics trafficking, and illicit trade, particularly through international mail channels.
