The Punjab government has introduced a Juvenile Permit facility allowing young people aged 16 to 18 years to legally ride motorcycles after meeting prescribed requirements, traffic police officials said.
Under the scheme, applicants aged between 16 and 18 years will be eligible to obtain a Juvenile Permit. The permit fee has been fixed at Rs1,000 for 16-year-olds and Rs500 for applicants aged 17 to 18 years.
Lahore Chief Traffic Officer Syed Abdul Raheem Shirazi said Juvenile Permit holders would not be allowed to ride motorcycles at speeds above 60 kilometres per hour.
He said consent from a parent or legal guardian had been made mandatory to ensure young riders meet legal and safety requirements.
Applicants have been advised to bring their Smart Card and Form-B, and must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Parents or guardians will also be required to submit a copy of their Computerised National Identity Card and a recent photograph.
The Chief Traffic Officer said the facility was aimed at encouraging responsible driving habits among young people, improving compliance with traffic laws and strengthening road safety across the province.
