Kohat Cement says Peshawar High Court has not halted 28.5MW coal power project

Kohat Cement Company Limited (KCCL) has clarified that the Peshawar High Court has not issued any order to stop work on its 28.5-megawatt Coal Fired Power Plant Project (CFPP), following a news report published on July 10.

In a notice to the PSX on Monday, the company said construction of the project is continuing in accordance with the required approvals from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

The clarification was issued in response to media reports regarding court proceedings related to the project.

Kohat Cement said the court had directed that the plant's operations would be subject to EPA approval, describing this as a standard requirement under environmental laws.

"The Hon'ble Peshawar High Court has not issued any orders to stop the works on CFPP," the company stated, adding that the project is progressing in line with the necessary regulatory approvals.

The company also reaffirmed that the coal-fired power plant would be operated in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and standard operating procedures issued by the relevant authorities, including the EPA.

Kohat Cement said the disclosure was intended to clarify the facts and address any misunderstanding arising from the published news report.
