Pakistan’s car sales surged to 23,055 units in January 2026, marking a 43-month high. The sales figure represents a 36% increase compared to January 2025 and a 74% rise from December 2025. This sharp month-over-month (MoM) surge is primarily attributed to new-year registrations, as customers typically delay deliveries to secure better resale values. The year-over-year (YoY) growth is supported by lower interest rates, easing inflation, and a favorable macroeconomic sentiment, as well as new market entrants.
Key players in the industry saw significant growth, with notable increases in both YoY and MoM figures. Indus Motor Company (INDU) reported a 52% YoY growth and an impressive 119% MoM surge, reaching 5,060 units in January. This was primarily driven by strong sales of its Corolla, Yaris, and Cross models, which together saw a 90% YoY and 93% MoM rise to 4,078 units. While sales of Fortuner and IMVs declined 17% YoY, they saw a remarkable 5x increase MoM to 982 units.
Honda Atlas Cars (HCAR) posted a 64% YoY increase and an 86% MoM rise, with total sales reaching 3,620 units. The City and Civic models performed exceptionally well, with sales rising 69% YoY and 93% MoM to 3,364 units, marking a 43-month high. Meanwhile, BRV and HRV models saw moderate growth of 14% YoY and 25% MoM to 256 units.
Sazgar Engineering (SAZEW) reported all-time high sales of 2,004 units, up 72% MoM, further solidifying its position in the market. Hyundai Nishat experienced a slight dip, with a 3% YoY decrease, while sales remained flat MoM at 1,017 units.
Pak Suzuki Motors (PSMC) saw robust growth, with a 32% YoY and 67% MoM increase, reaching 10,916 units. This performance was driven by strong sales in its popular models, including the Alto and Wagon R, which continued to capture significant market share.
Total car sales reached 23,055 units in January 2026, with a cumulative total of 111,377 units sold in the first seven months of FY2026, marking a 43% YoY increase from 77,686 units during the same period last year.
The surge in car sales was not limited to traditional vehicles; two-wheelers and three-wheelers also saw impressive growth, with sales increasing by 31% YoY and 13% MoM, reaching an all-time high of 181,790 units. Atlas Honda (ATLH), maker of the popular CD70 bike, recorded its highest-ever monthly sales, reaching 157,059 units.
