Pakistan, US discuss expanding trade and investment ties in Washington meeting

A Pakistani delegation led by Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb met US Commerce Secretary Howard A. Lutnick at the Department of Commerce in Washington D.C. to discuss strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries.

The delegation included the Secretary Commerce, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, and Trade and Economic Ministers.

According to the press release issued by the Pakistan Information Department, both sides “expressed the desire to enhance our economic cooperation especially in the fields of Trade and Investment” and discussed the United States’ interest in investing in “fields of ICT, Mining, Minerals and energy.”

During the meeting, the finance minister appreciated the role of the US Chamber of Commerce in organizing the US Pakistan Trade and Investment Forum scheduled for March 31, 2026. The forum is expected to be attended by “renowned companies from both countries besides Ministerial representation from Pakistan and USA.”

He also expressed hope that “the office of US Commerce Secretary would also participate in the same.”

The two sides reiterated their commitment to continue engagement on investment in major projects in the coming months, signaling plans for further discussions to advance bilateral economic cooperation.
