The Balochistan provincial cabinet on Wednesday unanimously approved the budget proposals for fiscal year 2026-27, setting the total outlay at Rs1.089 trillion and outlining key fiscal targets and development priorities.
The approval came during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, attended by provincial ministers, the chief secretary, administrative secretaries and senior officials.
Under the approved framework, non-development expenditure has been set at Rs797 billion, while Rs206 billion has been allocated for the Provincial Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).
Within the development allocation, Rs106 billion has been earmarked for new schemes, while Rs100 billion will be used for completing ongoing development projects.
In addition, Rs45 billion from federally funded projects and Rs40 billion under foreign project assistance will supplement provincial development spending, according to officials briefed during the meeting.
The cabinet was informed that these resources will be directed toward infrastructure development and service delivery across sectors including education, health, water supply, communications, agriculture and energy.
On the revenue side, the province has set a target of Rs170 billion for FY2026-27, with officials linking the projection to planned taxation reforms, improved fiscal discipline and better resource management.
During the briefing, members were also apprised of the budget’s broader framework, including development priorities, revenue mobilisation strategy, and welfare-oriented spending plans.
Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti described the budget as balanced, realistic and people-friendly, saying the government had prioritised welfare, job creation, sustainable development and improvements in basic public services despite limited fiscal space.
He said key focus areas included health, education, clean drinking water, infrastructure and employment generation.
The cabinet reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring effective utilisation of resources for provincial development and economic stability.
Officials said the FY2026-27 budget aligns with the province’s development needs and public expectations, and is aimed at supporting sustained economic growth.
