Balochistan imposes new taxes on property development, construction services

The Balochistan Revenue Authority (BRA) has instructed property developers and promoters across the province to complete mandatory registration and submit tax returns within the prescribed timelines for each tax period.

In a notification, the authority stated that services related to land development and construction of residential and commercial units fall under the Balochistan Sales Tax on Services Act and are subject to applicable tax rates.

Under the revised framework, a tax of Rs100 per square yard has been imposed on services involving the conversion of purchased or leased land into residential or commercial plots.

Additionally, a tax of Rs50 per square foot of covered area has been applied to the construction of residential and commercial units.

The BRA said all developers and promoters are required to register in accordance with the prescribed procedures and comply with return filing requirements.

The authority warned that non-compliance may lead to penalties and legal action under relevant provisions of the law.

It urged businesses engaged in land development and construction activities to follow tax regulations to avoid financial liabilities and enforcement measures.
