Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed all federal ministries and divisions to submit cases of remaining state-owned entities (SOEs) to the Cabinet Committee on State Owned Enterprises (CCoSOEs) and move forward on privatisation processing.
In a letter sent to secretaries of all ministries and divisions, Secretary of the Cabinet Kamran Ali Afzal said the cabinet was informed in its February 4, 2026, meeting that only 24 SOEs had so far been included in the Ministry of Privatisation’s Privatisation Programme (2024-29).
Following that briefing, the Prime Minister directed all federal secretaries to send, without delay, cases of SOEs under their administrative control that had already been marked for privatisation by CCoSOEs.
According to the letter, these cases are to be forwarded to the Privatisation Commission for inclusion in the privatisation programme.
Directions were issued to speed up the implementation of the government’s economic reform agenda and complete pending SOE privatisation processing at the earliest.
