FPCCI opposes proposed amendments to Trade Organisation Rules 2013

The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has raised concerns over a proposed bill seeking amendments to the Trade Organisation Rules 2013, stating that the move comes at a time of economic uncertainty.

FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh said the proposed changes could lead to the dissolution of district-level chambers and weaken existing institutional structures. He warned that such measures may affect economic activity at the district level.

According to the FPCCI leadership, restrictions on trade organisations could result in limited representation for export-oriented businesses. Sheikh said the amendments may also discourage small and medium-sized enterprises and women-led businesses.

He urged parliament to reject the proposed bill and allow district chambers to continue operating. He further called on authorities to reconsider the legislation, saying the matter has implications for the broader business community.
