Punjab to purchase 108 vehicles worth Rs1.14 billion for cabinet, officials
Plan includes 28 cabinet vehicles, 25 for VIP security, 30 double-cabin pickup trucks, 11 Japanese 1400cc cars, three 1600cc cars worth Rs530 million for CM Inspection Team

The Punjab government has decided to procure 108 vehicles costing Rs1.14 billion during the current year for ministers, security purposes and official use, The News reported, citing sources in the Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD).
As per the reports, the Transport Wing has submitted recommendations for the purchase of 28 vehicles for the provincial cabinet at an estimated cost of Rs300 million.
The proposed fleet for cabinet members includes one Japanese-brand SUV, two 1500cc Chinese-brand SUVs, five 1800cc cars, ten 1600cc cars and ten 1500cc cars of Japanese brands.
The government has also approved the purchase of two bulletproof four-by-four pickup trucks worth Rs40 million for two ministers.
In addition, 25 vehicles valued at Rs270 million have been approved for VIP security duties.
For the Chief Minister’s Inspection Team, vehicles worth Rs530 million are proposed. The plan includes 30 double-cabin pickup trucks, 11 Japanese-brand 1400cc cars and three 1600cc cars. The fleet will also include 1000cc cars and motorcycles.
Officials said the procurement process will begin after formal approval of the recommendations. They added that the purchases are intended to meet operational requirements and replace older vehicles.
