The Power Division has been directed to engage a top-tier international consultant to design, structure and support the solarisation of selected high-loss feeders in QESCO and PESCO, according to a news report.
The consultant will be tasked with ensuring adoption of global best practices, robust technical standards and cost-effective solutions for the initiative.
The division has also been instructed to establish a dedicated Solarisation Implementation Unit to execute the project from planning to completion. The unit will supervise implementation through a monitoring and evaluation framework with defined milestones, performance indicators and outcome-based accountability mechanisms.
In coordination with provincial governments, the Power Division will determine the precise funding requirements and finalise a sustainable financing model for the project. Cost-sharing arrangements among consumers, provincial governments and the federal government will be clearly defined before submission to the prime minister for approval.
The initiative targets selected feeders in Quetta Electric Supply Company and Peshawar Electric Supply Company areas that have persistently high losses.
