Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi discusses fleet expansion with Boeing Global President Brendan Nelson during Washington visit

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has moved closer to acquiring 16 new aircraft from Boeing after officials reported progress in talks held at the US aircraft manufacturer’s headquarters in Washington.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited Boeing’s headquarters on Thursday, where he met Boeing Global President Brendan Nelson to discuss the proposed acquisition and options for modernising the national carrier’s fleet.
A delegation from PIA’s new management also attended the meeting.
According to officials, the two sides reviewed the most suitable aircraft options and discussed ways to secure the best possible commercial arrangement for the airline.
They agreed to work towards finalising the deal at the earliest opportunity.
Naqvi thanked Nelson for assuring full cooperation in expediting the procurement process. He also acknowledged Boeing’s role in the global aerospace industry and its contribution to aircraft manufacturing.
The proposed acquisition is expected to form a key part of PIA’s fleet modernisation strategy as the airline seeks to increase its operational capacity and improve passenger services.
