Commerce ministry asks chambers to submit tariff proposals for budget 2026-27 by March 10
Ministry says submissions must use prescribed format, backed by data and aligned with national tariff policy 2025-30

The Ministry of Commerce has asked major chambers of commerce and industry associations to submit customs and tariff proposals for the federal budget 2026-27 by March 10, 2026.
The ministry said it had already reached out to chambers and trade bodies through letters dated December 24, 2025 and January 30, 2026, inviting input on changes to customs tariff structures for the coming fiscal year.
To help the Tariff Policy Centre and Tariff Policy Wing review each submission, the ministry said it has provided prescribed templates that must be filed in MS Excel. It warned stakeholders not to use any other format.
The ministry advised stakeholders to review existing customs tariff rates while preparing their recommendations. It also asked them to support proposals with relevant statistical data to avoid rejection due to incomplete information or procedural gaps.
It said submissions should reflect principles, objectives and targets set out in National Tariff Policy 2025-30. Where local manufacturers seek higher protection for finished goods or concessions on raw materials, the ministry said complete information should be provided in the prescribed format.
