Pakistan launches feeder shipping service linking Karachi Port with UAE hubs

Pakistan has launched a feeder shipping service linking Karachi Port with the United Arab Emirates ports of Fujairah and Khor Fakkan to strengthen maritime connectivity and facilitate cargo movement for Pakistani importers and exporters.

The maritime affairs minister announced that the service will operate through Karachi Gateway Terminal (Private) Limited, a major partner of Karachi Port Trust, establishing a regular connection with two key regional transshipment hubs.

According to officials, the first vessel under the new service arrived at Karachi Gateway Terminal on March 11, marking the start of regular operations.

The new link is expected to help maintain access to international shipping networks by connecting Karachi with major logistics centres in the UAE. Cargo routed through Fujairah and Khor Fakkan will have onward connectivity to global destinations through the UAE’s shipping infrastructure.

Port authorities said the feeder service will support supply chain continuity and provide an additional route for Pakistani trade amid shifting regional shipping dynamics.

The chairman of Karachi Port Trust said the service will improve Karachi Port’s connectivity with regional hubs and facilitate cargo movement for the country’s trading community.

The chief executive officer of Karachi Gateway Terminal said the direct link with UAE transshipment ports will provide importers and exporters with improved access to global container shipping networks.

Officials said the new service is intended to strengthen maritime trade links and support Pakistan’s reliance on seaborne commerce for international trade.
