Pakistan Customs has formally notified a new off-dock terminal at Hawksbay, Karachi, to be operated by International Cargo Terminals Pakistan (Pvt.) Ltd. (ICT), a subsidiary of Denmark-based Scan-Group A/S.
The notification was presented by Member Customs (Operations) Syed Shakeel Shah during a ceremony hosted by the Embassy of Denmark in Islamabad to mark Denmark's Constitution Day.
Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination Musadik Malik attended the event as the chief guest, alongside Denmark's Ambassador to Pakistan Maja Derrous Mortensen and Chief Collector of Customs Appraisement (South) Karachi Wajid Ali.
According to Pakistan Customs, the new facility is expected to enhance cargo handling capacity, reduce congestion at ports and improve the efficiency of customs clearance and trade logistics.
Speaking at the event, Syed Shakeel Shah said the terminal represents a step towards modernising Pakistan's logistics infrastructure and facilitating the movement of international trade.
The Hawksbay facility is Scan-Group A/S's second major logistics investment in Pakistan after its operations at Port Qasim. The Danish company has invested more than $30 million in Pakistan's logistics sector and maintains operations across Europe, North America and Asia.
Representatives of International Cargo Terminals Pakistan said the project was made possible through support from the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), the Federal Board of Revenue and Pakistan Customs.
Pakistan Customs said the establishment of the terminal reflects ongoing efforts to facilitate trade, attract investment, improve logistics efficiency and support economic activity through modernised customs and trade infrastructure.
