Pakistan’s business community has welcomed the ceasefire between the United States and Iran, linking the development to potential gains in energy access, trade expansion and industrial activity.
Industry representatives said the agreement reduces regional uncertainty and could improve economic prospects, particularly if it leads to the easing of sanctions on Iran and restoration of trade flows.
Officials at the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) said access to cheaper raw materials from Iran could support manufacturing, while potential imports of gas and petroleum products may help reduce energy costs for businesses and consumers.
Business leaders also highlighted the importance of progressing the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline, stating that access to stable and affordable energy remains critical for industrial output and export competitiveness.
They said improved regional stability could also support trade integration among neighbouring countries and reduce logistics pressures that have increased due to higher shipping and insurance costs.
The business community called on the government to formulate a policy framework to capitalise on emerging opportunities, including facilitating trade, ensuring energy supply and supporting exporters through measures such as freight subsidies.
