Petroleum Secretary Hamed Yaqoob Sheikh given additional charge of water resources division

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has assigned Petroleum Secretary Hamed Yaqoob Sheikh the additional charge of Secretary, Water Resources Division, according to an official notification issued by the Establishment Division on Monday.

The notification stated, “Mr. Hamed Yaqoob Sheikh, a BS-22 officer of Pakistan Administrative Service, presently posted as Secretary, Petroleum Division, is assigned additional charge of the post of Secretary, Water Resources Division, in addition to his own duties, for a period of three months or till the posting of a regular incumbent; whichever is earlier, with immediate effect.”

The notification was issued by the Cabinet Secretariat’s Establishment Division and will be published in the next issue of the Weekly Gazette of Pakistan Part-I.

The development places Hamed Yaqoob Sheikh in charge of two key federal divisions simultaneously, including the Petroleum Division, which deals with oil, gas, LNG and energy-related matters, and the Water Resources Division, responsible for national water management, dams and hydropower coordination.

Official sources on condition of anonymity said that the additional assignment would remain effective immediately for three months or until the appointment of a regular secretary for the Water Resources Division.

Copies of the notification were also sent to the Prime Minister’s Office, President’s Secretariat, Cabinet Division, Petroleum Division, Water Resources Division and other relevant federal authorities for implementation and record.
