SIFC clears water supply for Sapphire soda ash plant

The Special Investment Facilitation Council has facilitated the allocation of 2.7 cusecs of water from the Mohajir Canal for the Sapphire Soda Ash Production Project in Khushab, removing a key operational requirement for the industrial venture.

The development marks significant progress on the project, which is expected to increase domestic production of soda ash, a basic industrial raw material used in glass, detergent, textile and chemical manufacturing, according to an official statement issued on Wednesday.

Local production of soda ash is expected to reduce Pakistan’s dependence on imports, strengthen supply chain stability and support the development of a more competitive industrial base.

The project is also projected to expand manufacturing capacity, create employment opportunities and contribute to economic growth.

The statement said the progress reflects the Special Investment Facilitation Council’s continued role in advancing strategic industrial projects and promoting investment-led development in Pakistan.
