NAB, Punjab Board of Revenue recover 25,444 kanals worth Rs433 billion

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Board of Revenue (BoR) Punjab recovered 25,444 kanals of state land valued at approximately Rs. 433 billion from illegal occupation during fiscal year 2025-26.

The recovery drive began in September 2025 and involved verification of revenue records, demarcation of state property and coordinated enforcement operations across several districts of Punjab.

Officials said the recovered properties included agricultural and commercial land that had now been restored to state ownership.

To continue the recovery process, the Punjab government has established the Punjab State Assets Task Force, which has been mandated to identify and retrieve illegally occupied state land and oversee its documented disposal in coordination with the Board of Revenue.

Officials said the disposal of recovered assets would follow auditable procedures intended to protect state property and maintain records of subsequent transactions.

Citizens were also asked to report illegal occupation of government land through the official complaint management portal.

Officials said complaints would be reviewed for action and that the management of recovered properties would be documented.

The Board of Revenue also briefed participants on administrative and revenue reforms undertaken during the year.

According to the briefing, the department recovered Rs9.97 billion in agricultural income tax.

The Board of Revenue has also digitised millions of land records and introduced Geographic Information System-based property certification mechanisms to improve record management and verification.
