Privatisation committee reviews progress on PIA sale process

The Cabinet Committee on Privatisation (CCoP) on Saturday reviewed progress on steps required to complete the first closing of the divestment of Pakistan International Airlines Corporation Limited (PIACL) and took decisions aimed at advancing the transaction.

The meeting was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar.

According to an official statement, the committee examined matters relating to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) as well as requests submitted by the purchaser under the agreed transaction framework.

Following deliberations, the committee made necessary decisions to facilitate further progress in the privatisation process of the national carrier.

The meeting was attended by the ministers for power and commerce, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Privatisation Muhammad Ali, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, secretaries of the privatisation, planning and cabinet divisions, along with senior officials from relevant ministries.
