Mari Energies begins gas supply from Shams-1 discovery to SNGPL

ISLAMABAD: Mari Energies Limited has commenced gas supply of up to 30 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) from its Shams-1 discovery in Sindh to Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL).

In a notice submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Tuesday, Mari Energies informed shareholders that the company had started supplying gas from the Shams-1 well with effect from June 19, 2026, following approval from the government.

The company stated that the gas is being supplied during the Extended Well Testing (EWT) period and will reach up to 30 MMscfd.

The latest development follows Mari Energies' earlier announcement made on March 19, 2026, regarding a gas and condensate discovery at the Shams-1 well located in the Mari Development and Production Lease area in Daharki, Sindh.

"Reference our letter No. CA-26-5001, dated March 19, 2026, whereby a gas and condensate discovery at Shams-1 Well in Mari Development and Production Lease in Daharki, Sindh Province was communicated," the company said in its notification.

Announcing the commencement of production, Mari Energies said, "Pursuant to the Government's approval, Mari Energies has commenced gas supply of up to 30 MMscfd from the Shams-1 discovery to Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) with effect from 19th June 2026, during the Extended Well Testing (EWT) period."

The company noted that it is the operator of the Mari Development and Production Lease with a 100 percent working interest in the block.

The start of gas supply from the newly discovered field is expected to contribute additional indigenous gas volumes to the national transmission network at a time when Pakistan continues to face declining production from mature gas fields and increasing energy demand.
