The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited has started gas production from the Sahito-1 discovery well in the Khewari Exploration License, according to a notice submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX).
The company said Sahito-1 is currently producing 6.0 million standard cubic feet per day of gas.
Production is expected to be increased gradually after the planned expansion of surface facilities.
The well is located in District Khairpur, Sindh Province.
OGDCL had earlier disclosed the gas discovery at Sahito-1 on March 26, 2026. The discovery was made from the Lower Goru Formation, Massive Sand, in the Khewari Exploration License.
To enable early monetisation of the discovery, OGDCL has laid a six-inch, five-kilometre flowline connecting the well to the Suleman Gathering Facility.
The gas is being processed at the Sinjhoro Plant and injected into the Sui Southern Gas Company Limited network.
OGDCL is the operator of the Khewari Exploration License and holds a 75% working interest in the joint venture.
Government Holdings (Private) Limited holds the remaining 25% working interest.
The company said the start of production from Sahito-1 reflects its efforts to develop and monetise indigenous hydrocarbon resources.
