Punjab Revenue Authority collection rises 36% to Rs368 billion in FY26

Punjab Revenue Authority collected Rs368 billion in FY2025-26, posting 36% annual growth and adding Rs97 billion more in tax revenue compared with the previous fiscal year, Punjab Finance Minister Mian Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman said.

Addressing the Annual Strategic Conference organised by the PRA, the minister said the provincial government would meet its revenue targets in the new fiscal year without imposing any additional tax burden on taxpayers.

He said the increase in Punjab’s own-source revenue was an important step towards reducing dependence on the federal government and reflected the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

Rehman said the government’s focus in the new financial year would be on complete digitalisation of the tax system, transparency, enforcement and improved collection of existing taxes.

He said a zero-tolerance policy would be adopted against fake invoicing and tax evasion.

The minister said tax defaulters would be encouraged to meet their obligations, while unregistered businesses would be brought into the tax net through registration.

He said the institutional capacity of the PRA would be strengthened further and the use of modern technology expanded to improve enforcement.

Rehman added that higher revenues would support public services, including healthcare, education, business infrastructure and welfare projects.

He urged citizens to demand proper receipts and discourage businesses that refuse to issue e-bills or accept digital payments.

PRA Chairman Moazzam Iqbal Supra said the authority had achieved the highest tax collection in its history during FY2025-26.

He attributed the performance to effective strategy, digital reforms and teamwork.

Supra said the electronic tax system was helping reduce corruption in tax administration, adding that further reforms in the current fiscal year would improve transparency and strengthen the authority’s institutional capacity.

The conference was attended by PRA Chairman Moazzam Iqbal Supra, board members, senior officers and officials.

The finance minister also distributed certificates of appreciation among PRA officers and officials for their performance.
