Govt to target 20 million new taxpayers in ambitious five-year plan

Federal strategy to expand tax net shared with IMF; over 3.7 million individuals to be registered this year

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has unveiled a five-year strategy to expand its tax base, with a goal of integrating over 20 million new taxpayers into the system.

This comprehensive revenue generation plan has been shared with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as part of ongoing fiscal reforms.

The strategy outlines specific targets for tax net expansion over the next five years. Sources indicate that within the current fiscal year alone, the government plans to register 3.722 million individuals and 23,500 associations of persons as part of this initiative.
