Sky Electric launches Pakistan's 1st Smart Energy System

US-based Sky Electric has launched its operations in Pakistan to provide smart and clean energy solutions, on Monday. An event to inaugurate the launch had been attended by various stakeholders including government officials, corporate executives green architects and builders etc.

Speaking at the occasion, Sky Electric CEO Ashar Aziz, emphasised on the energy crisis in the developing countries and stated that it was crucial for the public and the private sectors to collaborate to deal with the crisis. He added that the new technology is aimed to make life better at economical costs and cut down on environmental hazards.

Furthermore, Aziz had stressed on the link between economic prosperity, gross domestic product (GDP) growth and energy consumption, highlighting that the economic growth could only be achieved with improved per capita energy consumption.

Aziz was of the view that backup solutions such as the Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) lead to energy losses and suffered from a short life of 1.5 years while generator fuel was very expensive.

In such circumstances, Aziz stated that Sky Electric is committed to providing smart solutions that do not waste energy and have a 10-year life.

A 3 kilowatt per hour (kWh) solar power system would be available at a price of  Rs1m, a 5 kWh system would cost Rs1.4m and 10 kWh systems would be available at Rs2.4m. The systems will also have a backup support system. For the small industrial units, the company has introduced cheaper solar energy systems of 20 and 30 kWh.

The Smart Energy System consists of Smart Energy Inverter, Smart Energy Storage, Solar Panels, and Network Operations Center. The system also has storage management system software and a mobile phone app has been launched to operate these systems.

The Smart Energy console has a touch screen interface, which gives insight into system operations. It has a built-in 3G chip and Wi-Fi connectivity, which allows the software to relay system information to Sky Electric Cloud.

Technical support personnel in a network operations centre can access the cloud and remotely monitor and diagnose faults in the system.
