Asad stresses on exploring Chinese export markets

National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Industries and Production Chairman Asad Umar has said that the economic relations with China should be exploited in order to build new export markets for Pakistani products in Chinese areas around Pakistan’s borders. He expressed these views while presiding over the committee’s 25th meeting at Small & Medium Enterprise Development Authority (SMEDA) Head office on Wednesday.

The committee chairman directed  SMEDA to conduct a survey on the existing potential for domestic goods in Chinese markets. He further stressed that focus should be given to areas such as demand and competitiveness of local goods. Furthermore, he suggested that Smeda partner with a Chinese research organisation or a reputable university of China in this regard.

Asad showed keen interest in impact analysis of SMEDA initiatives on the economic development of Pakistan. He directed SMEDA to prepare an exclusive presentation on the outcome of  SMEDA services extended to the SME sector since the last two decades to be discussed at the next meeting of the committee.
