Pakistan Railways and PSO sign fuel transportation agreement

The Ministry of Petroleum and Pakistan Railways have signed an agreement for fuel transportation of 2m tonnes to be facilitated by the Pakistan State Oil (PSO) for provision of supply to the Ministry of Water and Power.

A PSO statement said that now rail transportation for fuel accounted for 38pc share in 2017 as opposed to just 4pc back in 2013. The aggregate growth in this 5 year period stands at over 750pc. PSO stated “The agreement will not only strengthen PSO’s supply chain operations, but will also bring substantial business opportunity to Pakistan Railways to make the organisation profitable.” The last fuel agreement had between signed between the two companies in 1997. All fuel consignments booked by PSO with the Pakistan Railways will have to be paid for full within two weeks time and the PR contractor will be held responsible for any loss of fuel during transportation.

The signing agreement was attended by Railways Minister Saad Rafiq, PSO General Manager (Logistics) Syed Rashid Kamal and Pakistan Railways Additional General Manager (Traffic) Abdul Hameed Razi.
