Hum network to launch news channel

Karachi: In a notification sent to the bourse on Friday, Hum Network Limited (HNL) announced that it would be launching a news channel.

It is a public limited media company based in Karachi and is registered with Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) since 2004 and has been listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange since 2005.

The company operates satellite channels, including HUM TV that offers entertainment TV programs for the family; Masala TV, a food related channel; Hum Sitaray, a hybrid channel that offers narrative, as well as format based entertainment shows; and HUM World.

In a Board of Directors meeting held today, has given the go-ahead to launch a news channel named “Hum News” to explore the opportunities in the broadcast news genre, the notification read.

At the time of filing this report, the company’s shares were trading at Rs10.30 per share, up 0.49pc from its close on Thursday. The KSE-100 index was trading at 45,433.76 points, down 200.26 points (0.44pc) from its close Thursday.
