Digital Printing & Signage Technology conference begins in Lahore

Three-day Digital Printing & Signage Technology conference (DPS) began at Lahore Expo Center on Friday. The 3rd International Digital Printing & Signage Technology Conference showcases innovations in digital communications and other interactive technologies from around the world. The conference presented all signs of digitalisation impacting almost every sector in the industry. Graphics on clothes already existed in the marketplace, but with changing trends the digital reach is becoming far broader and is creating a much stronger impact on consumer choices, producer costs, and economic movements.

High-tech and brightly colorful displays welcomed the attendees into the conference. Almost every stall featured digitally-printed cloths, flexes, or LED TVs. Laser engraved merchandize, 3D printed toys, tools, and décor objects, and gigantic machinery were to be seen all around the hall. Energetic voices filled the auditorium with expressions of curiosity and delight. The exhibitors were busy explaining their products to the visitors while cameras flashed all around adding to the lights from screens displayed on the walls. However, print equipment and related material was the primary attraction for the visitors. Digital print solution providers took pride in their array of products and consumables – ink, cloths, paper media etc. – which are the basic raw materials for print based industry.

In Pakistan, it is the only conference of its sorts focusing on digital printing and signage industry. More than 100 exhibitors participated in the conference including more than 50 industrialists from Pakistan. The organizers of the expo – FAKT Exhibitions (Pvt) Ltd – expect the footfall of visitors to exceed 10,000 in the three days of the conference.

For the exhibitors this conference provides a chance to showcase their brands along with the new innovations in the industry, while for the delegates it is an opportunity to understand and address the issues faced by this booming industry. The attendees of the conference included industry players weighing on their competition, students looking towards their choices of skills, entrepreneurs understanding the strengths and weaknesses of the industry, and opinion leaders and experts sharing their views, insights, concerns and suggestions for the current and potential industry players.

One of the exhibitors at the conference spoke to Profit and said that the first day did not see a heavy influx of visitors, but it will increase in the following two days. “500-600 people visited our display today. But if the conference goes as a success we will have at least 5000-6000 people visiting.” He also said that he along with other participants do not look at such expos as only an opportunity to show their talent and products but also to learn from other exhibitors as well as acquire new clients.

Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) President Faisal Ali Rajpoot was the chief guest at the conference. The conference will continue for two more days and conclude on Sunday.
