SIALKOT: Ambassador of Brasil in Pakistan Claudio Raja Gabaglia Lins has said that Brasil will soon establish the direly needed “Pak-Brazil Business Forum” at Islamabad to develop face-to-face business contacts and boost mutual trade between the two countries.
He said that all stakeholders from both sides would be included in this forum.
He stated this while addressing Sialkot exporters during an important meeting at the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) here on Monday. SCCI President presided over the meeting. Senior officials from the Brasilian Embassy, Chairman SCCI’s Committee for Women Entrepreneurs Mariyam Nouman, SCCI officials, Chairman Sialkot exporters’ own airline “Air Sial” Fazal Jillani and Sialkot business community’s leader Riazud din Sheikh also attended the meeting.
The ambassador said that there was a dire need to establish a”Pak-Brasil Business Forum”, adding that this forum will start formal functioning in Islamabad by the end of April 2018. He sought positive suggestions from SCCI in this regard.
He said that the several Brazilian companies were showing a keen interest in Pakistan’s renewable energy development sector, adding that Brasil has a big potential to invest in the renewable energy development sector of Pakistan. He said that Brasil will also help Pakistan overcome the problem of climate change.
The Brasilian ambassador assured exporter in Sialkot his full cooperation and support to bring Brasilian companies to Pakistan, as there were bright opportunities of starting joint ventures between businessmen of the two friendly countries.
The envoy showed his willingness to establish a Brasilian honourary consulate general in Sialkot to facilitate Sialkot exporters here.
Claudio Raja Gabaglia Lins stressed upon the need of taking effective and positive steps for boosting and strengthening the mutual trade ties between Pakistan and Brasil, inviting the Pakistani business community to divert their business activities to Brasil, besides, participating in all the coming industrial exhibitions and trade fairs being held n Brasil.
He pledged his full support and technical assistance to ensure an easy access for the Pakistani business community to international trade markets of Brasil and Europe through Brasil.
The meeting was told that the total trade volume between the two countries was around $660 million with a balance of trade in favour of Brasil at $605 million. The present trade volume was not reflective of the friendly relations and potential available in the two countries. The consortium of exporters said that there were immense possibilities and a huge potential of joint ventures and cooperation in various sectors, which might be exploited optimally to improve bilateral trade.
SCCI President said that both Pakistan and Brasil should facilitate single country trade exhibitions and encourage frequent exchanges of trade delegations.
Earlier, the Brasilian ambassador also visited several leading industrial units in Sialkot, amidst tight security. He witnessed the internationals standard craftsmanship of Sialkot based artisans and said that exporters have a great potential to explore and capture the international trade markets of Brasil by exporting their world-class traditional and non-traditional export products. He also hailed the unique export culture of Sialkot.
