According to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the Weekly Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the combined group increased by 0.18 per cent compared to the previous week (Aug 30, 2018) and increased by 2.18 per cent compared to the corresponding period from last year (Sept 07, 2017).
Of the 53 items monitored the average prices of 16 items registered an increase, 8 decreased while 29 remained unchanged.
SPI for the lowest income group rose by 0.3 per cent over the index published on August 30, 2018, which is the highest increase on a week on week basis compared to other income groups.
Compared to the corresponding period of last year, SPI for lowest income group increased by 1.15 per cent. On a year on year basis, the largest increase in SPI has been for the highest income group (above Rs35000) of about 2.96 per cent.
