Ambassador-designate pledges to enhance Pakistani exports to Ukraine

FAISALABAD: A comprehensive, viable and foolproof system will be evolved to ensure speedy payment to Pakistani exporters dealing with Ukraine, said Pakistan’s Ambassador-designate to Ukraine Maj Gen (r) Zahid Mubasshar Sheikh.

Addressing the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) members on Tuesday, he termed the business community backbone of the national economy. He said that he had a one-point agenda, to enhance Pakistani exports to Ukraine. “I will try my best that the agreements signed between the businessmen of the two countries are honoured,” he added.

He appreciated a proposal floated by Mian Latif that Pakistani exporters should establish their own warehouses in Ukraine so that they could supply their products to local buyers.

Responding to a question, he said that women could also export woollen socks, gloves, leather goods and long shoes and overcoats. However, they must stick to the specified quality to ensure their presence in the market on a sustained basis.
