Pakistan, Switzerland agree to exchange financial information

In a major step towards bringing back the looted wealth, Pakistan and Swiss governments have signed a memorandum of understanding which would enable them to exchange financial information on a bilateral basis.

The accord will help local authorities seek Swiss bank account details of Pakistanis.

The MoU was signed by Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Accountability Shahzad Akbar on Pakistan’s behalf.

“The newly ratified treaty will be implemented forthwith and give access to critical financial information,” Shahzad Akbar was quoted as saying by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf official twitter handle.

The high-level Pakistani delegation also negotiated the implementation on the exchange of information, besides additional protocols and MoUs to expedite Pakistani requests on a preferential basis.
