Pakistan extends airspace ban on Indian aircraft until August 24

Pakistan has extended the closure of its airspace to Indian aircraft until August 24, the Pakistan Airports Authority said on Saturday.

A Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued by the authority said the restriction will remain in effect until 11:59 pm Pakistan Standard Time on August 24.

The ban applies to aircraft registered in India and planes operated, owned or leased by Indian airlines and operators, including military flights.

Pakistan restricted its airspace to Indian aircraft amid heightened tensions with New Delhi following the May 2025 war. The measure has since been extended several times. The previous extension was due to expire on July 24.

The continued closure requires Indian airlines operating westbound international services to take longer alternative routes, increasing fuel consumption and operating costs.
